Hockey

This week Nathan and Emily started doing power skating after school.  Emily does it on Monday and Nathan on Wednesday.  Power skating is a beginning level of hockey.  The kids do drills and scrimmage.  Nathan is actually doing it with a younger group as they do not offer it to the 5th grade, the 5th graders are on the hockey team.  The coach has agreed to let Nathan do it with the 2nd and 3rd graders to help him get comfortable and gain some confidence.  Emily is so much fun to watch, it is right up alley.  She loves getting out there and sliding on the ice and skating.  Nathan plays hockey very much like he plays soccer, speeds up to get the puck and works it to the goal, I am amazed at how similar the two sports are.  They are both getting a workout and I am building up my tolerance to the cold.  IT is FREEZING in the ice rink!

Bannerman Park

This morning we took the kids to Bannerman Park to go ice skating.  Bannerman Park is a park in town and in the winter the put in a skating rink.  It is open to the public at  no charge.  The kids had a really good time.  They are really enjoying ice skating and the snow.  I am impressed at how well they are getting on the skates.

Gone Sledding

Today we took a break from working around the house to take the kids to Pippy Park and go sledding.  There was quite a few people there and kids were being taken out by sleds left and right.  It is one hill and the kids go up and down at will.  For the most part people are careful, but some of the older kids are not as careful and sometimes you can not always predict which direction your sled will go once you start down the hill.  Emily kept trying to miss kids but she kept going right at them and would tip over to avoid hitting them.

Catching some air!

After sledding we went for a "hike" around the lake.  The kids enjoyed the sledding and the walk however Maddie and Reagan were DONE halfway through the walk. There are a lot of people that go out for walks and take their dogs.  I am excited for the snow to melt so I can really see all the walking trails that I can take Reagan for walks on.

Gone to Town..

This morning we went to town to get post cards, which the kids have been wanting to do for weeks.  While we were down there we walked around a little.  Some of the kids were not dressed appropriately and there was a lot of whining so when I say we walked a little I stress the "little" part.  It was a beautiful day, COLD but beautiful.
